The Best of Brussels
This was the best way we could have spent our one night in Brussels! My friend and I felt like we had a great taste of the city (literally and figuratively!) as a result. It was one of the highlights of our 10 day, 5 city Europe trip.
All of your food, drinks and chocolate are included in the price, which made it feel very reasonable. Grab a small lunch before, but we definitely didn't need dinner afterwards!
Avo was a great tour guide. He's been in the city and the industry for a long time, so he knows the best places to go and its obvious he has a great working relationship with the local businesses. On our way to all of the stops, he took time to point out some of the history and show the local attractions as well.
Worth noting, he was incredible conscientious about food allergies. He took a gluten and nut allergy in our group very seriously and went over and beyond to provided alternative suggestions and/or offerings.
A couple considerations: this tour does require a LOT of walking, so be prepared. It also does last longer than the advertised time, and based on other reviews, that seems to be the norm. Plan to be done closer to 7:30/8 instead of 6:30, but it was well worth it. We went on a Saturday, and most of the souvenir and chocolate shops were still open until 9, so we still had time afterwards to circle back and make a couple purchases.
Fantastic way to see Brussels and experience its best delicacies in a small personalized tour. Avo is so friendly, extremely knowledgeable and has the right connections to make your tour worth every cent. While it may seem like a long time commitment, the pacing is perfect. You won’t feel rushed and you’ll be able to savor the incredible flavors of everything you eat and drink while also learning about the history and craftmaking that led to the delicious offerings Avo brings to you. If you want a deep dive into the world of Belgium Beer and Chocolate this is the tour. But if you think a Michelin 4 star restaurant tasting menu should take 1 hour don't bother. It takes time to get What Avo is explaining. And you don't want to rush through the best beer in the world. After this i am not sure i can look at my regular bar menu the same. this tour is soo much more than a beer and chocolate tasting. its 3 or 4 tours wrapped up into one. History, architecture, food it was a great time. Our group didn't want it to end. If we had time i would have gone though the tour again the next day.
Meeting point is Grand Place 27, 1000 Brussels, please be there at least 10 minutes in advance to check in the tour. We recommend using Google Maps to localise the meeting point on your smartphone.
We recommend you to provide us with your phone number / email , we value your privacy and they will be secure by us , but it can be sometimes so important as we need to reach you in case of any changes/modifications before the tour.
Printing out vouchers is optional and not necessary, you can always show us your voucher with your smartphone. Note that having a paper or digital version of the voucher is necessary to join the tour and has to be shown to our partners (Chocolate/Beer/restaurant) to have discounts . The guide will tell you where to use them for discounts.
Kids under 16 yrs old are not allowed on the regular tour but you can always contact us to arrange a private tour to accommodate your kids (Unless you have babysitters 😉 ).
The tour includes lot of treats from chocolate to Macaron to Biscuit to Cheese and sausages to the Waffle but we do recommend people to have a light lunch/ brunch/sandwich before the tour just to be able to handle the beers and the Whiskey 😉
Indeed this is a walking tour and the historic old center of the city is mostly cobblestones , there will be a bit of walking involved but it’s not a marathon neither and having comfortable walking shoes on is actually a very healthy option that we would like to recommend.
No worries about that you will be offered non alcoholic /soft drinks or wine to replace the alcoholic drinks/beer, be sure of telling the guide about it on the beginning of the tour.
The Weather in Brussels is unstable and people call it the bi-polar weather it can change quickly several times during the day , it can rain a lot sometimes as well . Please check your weather application and try to have some backup options with you like a small umbrella or an extra jacket , they can always be useful in Brussels.
